On 11 October went to Banjarmasin in South Kalimantan to meet the literary community. This is part of the new satellite program now part of the Ubud Writers and Readers Festival.

The event was held in a large community arts centre, attended by hundreds of students as well as some local poets, novelists, media, and arts admin people. A lively and enthusiastic crowd with plenty of questions.
a review of The Edge of Bali and other writings
… “The Edge of Bali is a classic example of a book that should never have gone out of print. Congratulations to Transit Lounge for reissuing it!”

Ubud Festival is over, I’m not leaving
Ubud Writers and Readers Festival has ended and I’m not going away. It was
a fantastic festival in beautiful Ubud. I gave a workshop, spoke on two panels, chaired two other events, and The Edge of Bali and other writings was launched by Jeni Caffin. Met many interesting writers. The closing night party was spectacular with fabulous music, and I danced for hours. I’m staying on in Bali and will be involved in more events here soon.

News from Review of Australian Fiction (now DRM free, and other news)
Developments at RAF, which published my novella Surrealistic Pillow:
Until recently, RAF has been available solely through the RAF website, powered by Booki.sh:
http://reviewofaustralianfiction.com/
The first piece of news is that RAF is now available through Avid Reader (Qld), Gleebooks (NSW), Imprints (SA), The Turning Page (NSW), Readings (VIC), Fullers (Tas), Mary Ryans (QLD & NSW).
Some of these stores even have very cool RAF pages:

http://ebooks.readings.com.au/collection/review-of-australian-fiction
http://ebooks.avidreader.com.au/collection/review-of-australian-fiction
The second piece of news is that RAF is now one of the first Australian e-publishers to go DRM-Free.
This means that readers can access RAF now on basically any e-reading device. Booki.sh have explained what DRM-Free means here:
http://about.booki.sh/support/faq/answer/what-does-lsquo-drm-free-rsquo-mean/
As you may have already heard, Booki.sh was recently acquired by the international ebook distributor, Overdrive:
http://about.booki.sh/support/press/post/overdrive-acquires-australian-ebook-company-booki-sh/
The third piece of news is that RAF is currently negotiating with Overdrive to allow RAF to be distributed to their 18,000 libraries worldwide, including the Australian university and public library system.
